About
Make sure you are seen!
Being seen on the open water is of vital importance. A good radar reflector therefore belongs to the standard equipment of a ship. There are various radar reflectors on the market, and not all are useful.
The tragic accident with the sailing yacht Ouzo near the Isle of Wight in August 2006 has stirred up the discussion about the use of radar reflectors. And rightly so because they literally mean the difference between life and death. The three people on board the Ouzo did not survive their encounter with the ferry Pride of Bilbao. When sailing on open water, you can't do without radar reflectors with any decency. Unfortunately, there is a great deal of difference in effectiveness between the reflectors on offer. It is simply not enough to hang up any type.
If you look at the conventional eight-square reflectors, their effectiveness depends mainly on their size. In fact, you should only use the largest format; other sizes just don’t work. Tube reflectors do not work at all, according to many tests, there is no reason to use them. If you do it for your own feelings, to have at least something on board under the motto: better something than nothing, then you are wrong. They really don't work, so you can't feel good about it. Therefore, use an EchoWave radar reflector.
All EchoWave radar reflectors are made of high-density polypropylene, which is UV resistant. The internal reflectors are made of marine-grade aluminium. Lightweight and always supplied with brackets and instruction manual.
